New work
● Cement screeds, concrete slabs and pre-cast elements
● Screeds with under floor heating
● Floating floors (over insulation)
● Un-bonded screeds

Suitable for covering with:
● Tiling
● Carpeting
● Flexible floor coverings

weber.niv fluid must be sanded down before laying parquet flooring and certain floor paints. weber.niv fluid is compatible with the adhesives used with the coverings listed above.

About this product

weber.niv fluid is a rapid-drying, cement-based, levelling compound. It is used to correct surface irregularities where very deep bed thickness and rapid turnaround is required.

It can be used in bonded, un-bonded and floating applications, in dry interior situations.

Constraints

Do not use :
On permanently damp floors
or floors with rising damp
On friable or unstable floors
In industrial areas
On exterior floors
As a wearing surface

Features and Benefits

▲ Can be built up to 100 mm in a single application
▲ Rapid drying - can take light foot traffic after 5 hours
▲ Faster through cure and strength development than anhydrite screed, can be tiled after 8 hours
▲ Extended working time
▲ Excellent levelling properties
▲ Single pack
▲ Can be pump fed for large areas as a special application by contractors approved by weber

Preparation

Switch off any under-floor heating systems at least 24 hours before application. Substrates should be completely dry, hard, rigid and clean. Scrape off any traces of paint, plaster, laitance or other unsound materials. Thoroughly remove all traces of dust by vacuuming or sweeping.

Adequate precautions must be taken to ensure that the weber.niv fluid is contained within the area of application. Care must be taken to seal off all cable and pipe entry points within the floor, joints between insulation panels and along the leading edge of bond-breaking films.

A bond breaking strip of at least 5 mm width, must be placed around the edge of the application area and around columns or other elements that pass through the floor.

Bonded applications onto concrete substrates
Priming is recommended to improve adhesion, reduce air bubbles and prevent suction from the substrate de-watering the leveller. It may not be necessary for medium porosity substrates, but all others must be primed, and the primer allowed to dry, before applying weber.niv fluid.

Very porous or slightly porous surfaces should be primed with weber PR360 and allowed to dry for 1 to 4 hours.

Completely impervious surfaces should be primed with weber PR301 and allowed to dry for 2 to 3 hours.

Un-bonded applications
A suitable bond breaking layer or HDN polystyrene insulation panel must be used. Please refer to weber for more details.

Level indicators

Place tripods approximately every 2 metres and adjust them with a laser level to accurately determine the depth of the screed.
Note: Critical areas can be reinforced by including WG210 glass fibre mesh in the screed. The mesh should be fixed to the substrate to prevent it floating to the surface during the application.

Mixing

weber.niv fluid is designed for large applications using a mixer pump unit. Before the pumping operation begins, the hoses should be lubricated with a cement slurry to aid pumping . Alternatively 1 – 2 bags of a finer aggregate screed such as weber.niv floor can be used.

The flow rate of the material should be checked before pumping and at regular intervals by means of a flow ring test.

The mixer pump should be set up to deliver approximately 40 litres of screed per minute. The internal diameter of the hose should be between 35 – 50 mm. The maximum pumping length is 60 metres horizontally and 20 metres vertically.

For small quantities the material can be mixed using a heavy duty electric drill with a suitable mixing attachment.

The water addition per 30 kg bag is 3.6 – 4.2 litres. Clean water should be used at all times.

Application

Pump or pour the material onto the floor until the correct level has been achieved. Use a one metre long tamping bar to release all air bubbles and produce a smooth surface. Remove the tripods as the work proceeds.

The product is designed for pump applications although small areas can be applied by hand.

Installation of this material is a specialist application and should only be carried out by an approved weber contractor.

For small area applications or details of specialist contractors please contact our Customer Services Department.

weber.niv fluid is not designed as a wearing surface, so the final finishing layer should be applied as soon as possible after drying has completed

Allowance for movement

Allow for suitable expansion or control joints in screeds and slabs, by following them through the topping. The maximum area without a joint for bonded applications is 500 m2 and for un-bonded applications is 400 m2.

Health and Safety

Contains cement.
